填空部分是一些時世題，如：我國有多少網民，三個代表、北京申奧什麼的。 還有是記者的一些常識性的問題：如我國第一個以寫新聞通訊出名的記者是誰？蔡元培曾經誇獎過的記者是誰？
選擇題範圍與填空基本一樣，包括時政和新聞知識：如深度採訪的實質，記者的職業道德等。
簡答題就比較專業了。一道是你參加一條高速公路的開通典禮，如何在記者會上發的新聞通稿之外寫出會上沒説的內容。一道是你去一個單位採訪，但沒有任何該單位的證件、邀請函之類東西，你如何騙過門衞混進去。第三道是有幾家香水公司都想讓你説好話，就是做軟新聞了，你該如何處理。第四道是A明星與B明星不和，你如何報道A罵B的話而又不能讓B告你誹謗。
寫作題是以“今年冬天不太冷”為題任意想象，加敍加議。
還有五道智力測驗：如何喝道啤酒杯底部的啤酒、汽車過隧道但高2釐米該怎麼辦、你吃蘋果時吃到幾條蟲最噁心之類，10只點燃的蠟燭，讓風吹滅了2只，後來在關窗户前又吹滅1只。問最後還有幾支。
