端午節吃粽子是從古傳承至今的一個重要習俗。包粽子主要是用荷塘邊盛產的嫩蘆葦葉,也有用竹葉的,都統稱為粽葉。粽子的傳統形狀一般都是三角形的,人們都會根據粽餡為粽子命名,全是糯米的叫糯米粽;糯米里摻合小豆的叫豆棕;摻棗子的是棗棕。在很久以前的考試當中,家長大多都會給孩子包幾個棗棕帶上,因為棗棕又叫“早中”。剝開那層墨綠的外衣,露出裏面雪白的米肉,甜糯的香味,早已將我的.饞蟲勾起來了。甜糯的粽子,這是端午節味道。

端午節在門上掛艾葉,蒿草,白芷等植物,也是端午節的一個傳統習俗艾葉、蒿草、白芷都是屬於中藥的。先煮兩個雞蛋,等雞蛋煮好以後,從中間剝開蛋白,取出蛋黃,在原本蛋黃的位置放入用艾草或蒿草包住一件銀飾品,合上雞蛋,用紗布包住,塞到嘴裏,可以驅寒、治咳嗽。艾葉,蒿草的清香是端午節的味道。

賽龍舟也是端午節的重要習俗之一。相傳起源於古時楚國人因捨不得賢臣屈原投河死去,許多人划船追趕拯救以後,每年五月初五劃龍船以紀念之;借划龍舟驅散江中之魚,以免魚吃掉屈原的身體。在我的家鄉每年都會舉行賽龍舟比賽,還會在江面放置許多鴨子,幾個龍舟隊伍相互競爭,那個隊伍抓到的鴨子多,那個隊伍就獲勝。每年,我都會站在江邊,看着江面上龍舟隊伍的奮勇激進,看着他們的比賽。龍舟對屈原的紀念,這是端午節的味道。

傳授屈原投江之後,屈原家鄉的人們為了不讓蛟龍吃掉屈原的遺體,紛紛把粽子、鹹蛋拋入江中。一位老醫生拿來一罈雄黃酒倒入江中,説是可以藥暈蛟龍,保護屈原。一會兒,水面果真浮起一條蛟龍。於是,人們把這條蛟龍扯上岸,抽其筋,剝其皮,之後又把龍筋纏在孩子們的手腕和脖子上,再用雄黃酒抹七竅,以為這樣便可以使孩子們免受蟲蛇傷害。薰蒼朮是端午節的傳統習俗活動之一,就是民間傳統用蒼朮消毒空氣;將天然的蒼朮捆綁在一起,燃燒後產生的薄煙,不僅會散發出清香,還可以驅趕蚊蟲,令人神清氣爽。雄黃的傳奇,薰蒼朮的祝福,這是端午節的味道。
